Information and resources for owners of Berthon Gauntlets

Welcome to this website. My aim is to provide a place where information about these beautiful, tough boats can be collated. Perhaps in time a proper owner's association can be developed. For the moment, however, anyone with any information about these boats is invited to get in touch so these pages can be updated.

June 2011 - Jim Donald has been in touch to tell me about his Gauntlet, Tiare Taporo III. She was built in New Zealand, keel laid down in 1947 but finally launched in 1979! This is the second Gauntlet I am aware of built in New Zealand - maybe there are more?

May 2011 - Maidenlight discovered. Although I don't yet have any information on her owner, Maidenlight is looking in great shape, based on the West Coast of Scotland.

The location of all known Gauntlets can now be viewed on a world map.

For sale - we currently are aware of several Gauntlets on the market.

Classic Boat magazine has kindly given permission to reproduce their article from 1992 on the Gauntlet class - see In the press.

April 16th, 2010 - Guiding Light (owner Roy Boughton) has won 1st place in her class in the Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta Concours d'Elegance Competition. Roy and Guiding Light were also awarded the Arne Frisell prize for Grace and Seaworthiness.
